Thanks for the 2017 Earth Day Effort

A great, wonderful and productive Earth Day.   Thank you all so very much.   You made the day go so smoothly.    You fostered that spirit of congenial cooperativeness  and everyone enjoyed working together.  The Gardens look so much cleaner, and our plants now  stand out.  We filled our 35 cu.yd green recycling bin to the brim.     We had 87 volunteers.  We planted 118 native perennials at the North Chaparral area, including Native columbines, California Fuchsias, Asters, Monkeyflowers, Penstamons, Flowering Currants, and Blue-eyed Grass.

Special thank you to:   BSPA Board of Directors’ Carol Berman for being the Master of our opening ceremonies and greeting our guests and volunteers;  Ranger Kary Tyler-Davis for lending us her tent and helping us in the early morning set-up;  the BSRA Maintenance staff for hauling the tables from and to the Capitol storage area and lending us their wheelbarrows;  Laurie Baker for helping prepare the planting area, hauling the plants from my place, and picking up the coffee from Starbucks;  Greg Deaner for procuring the plants, and helping in the early morning set-up; Lance Sandvik for picking up our morning pastries from Safeway & helping in the morning set-up;  Marty Young for getting us a Safeway gift certificate; Mike Caplin and Jim Lee for the great press releases/postings in Benicia Herald, Vallejo Times-Herald,  Facebook, Patch, Tweeter, and our Website.
